CCCSIA women's soccer poll plays musical chairs in top 10 but Cypress remains No. 1
SAN BERNARDINO - There seems to be a growing consensus among the voters of the biweekly California Community College Sports Information Association about which teams belong in the top 10 in the women’s soccer voting.
Nine of the top 10 teams remained in the top 10 this week, except all but one of those teams changed their position in the polling.
The one? Cypress College in the top spot.
The Chargers received seven of the nine first-place votes, remaining atop the poll of sports information professionals. Cypress is the last team without a loss on its record, with six regular season games remaining – including Tuesday’s game against No. 10 Saddleback – the lone new team in the top 10 after moving up from a tie for 13th two weeks ago.
Pasadena City moved up one place to take over the No. 2 spot, while No. 3 Lake Tahoe – which received one first-place vote – moved up three spots. Folsom Lake dropped two spots into No. 4 position.
Southwestern – which received the other first-place vote, despite suffering its first loss of the season to MiraCosta (sitting at No. 21 in the voting) – dropped three spots to No. 8 in the latest poll.
The biggest upward mover was Santa Rosa, which jumped from No. 20 into a tie at No. 13 with previous No. 19, Long Beach City. Santa Monica was the only new team in the poll, landing at No. 15. Modesto dropped nine spots to No. 18.
