SBVC (11-0-5; 4-0-2) remained undefeated and celebrated holding onto their #10 NSCAA national ranking by taking 43 total shots and grabbing ten corner kicks in a lopsided victory over the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (5-7-2; 2-4), 5-0.
SBVC got the scoring on the right track in the 6th minute with a goal from freshman midfielder Claudia Zepeda (Cathedral City H.S.) who pounded a shot past the keeper on an assist from freshman forward Amairany Rosales (Rialto H.S.) giving SBVC a 1-0 lead.
Nearly every SBVC player saw the field, with at least 17 of those players taking a shot at the opposing keeper, led by freshman midfielder Julissa Magana (Bloomington H.S.) who took six shots, with two on goal and the very accurate sophomore forward Cynthia Chavez (Cathedral City H.S.) with five total shots, with four being on target.
Both teams would go 20 minutes without another score, but then a corner kick by freshman defender Jenny Guyet (Redlands Citrus Valley) connected with freshman midfielder Danielle Kakebeen (Rancho Cucamonga H.S.) to give SBVC a 2-0 lead in the 26th minute.
It didn't take long before Rosales hit another player streaking down the field to take their shot as sophomore midfielder Katie Hernandez (Beaumont H.S.) rifled a shot into the net in the 35th minute to give SBVC a 3-0 lead.
Freshman midfielder Yajara Alverez (Moreno Valley Rancho Verde) was the next to get into the action, when just before halftime she clobbered a shot behind the goalie, on an assist by freshman defender Allison Herrin (Redlands Citrus Valley) to get SBVC up, 4-0.
Just on the other side of the halftime break Kakebeen punched another shot into the net on an assist from Magana to give SBVC a 5-0 lead.
