Marina Koloamatangi had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead a half dozen College of San Mateo women's basketball scorers in double figures in a 77-53 romp over visiting Cabrillo College for the Bulldogs second straight one-sided victory.
Koloamatangi, a 5-11 sophomore forward out of Half Moon Bay High, shot 50 per cent from the field (6 of 12), including a 3-pointer, in CSM's home opener. She also had two assists and a steal.
Also producing double-doubles for the tall Bulldogs were two freshmen: 6-1 center Corryne Millet (Douglas, Nev.), ten points and a game-high 13 rebounds (plus three assists and a steal), and 5-8 forward Dominique Bonaparte (James Logan), ten points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Megan Pham (Aragon) had 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Sophomore guard Taylor Cormier (Mills) also had 11 points (with two 3-pointers).
"We had six players in double figures," said CSM coach Michelle Warner. "That's great offense." They included all five starters, plus guard Sophia Leon (James Logan), who shot 50 per cent coming off the bench to tally 11 points. "They all play well together," said Warner. "Our chemistry is really good."
San Mateo streaked to early leads of 9-3 and 17-6 in the first quarter and extended the spread to 39-21 at the half. The Bulldogs led Cabrillo (0-2) by as many as 30 points in the second half of the Coast Conference crossover game.
