Shay, Heffernan named Player, Pitcher of the Week

LOS ANGELES, Calif – This pair of California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association weekly award recipients combined to help their squads to an 8-1 record this past week.

Player of the Week Madison Shay, a freshman shortstop from Ventura College, hit at a .667 clip, driving in 12 runs and tallying six extra base hits including three triples and a homer. Shay slugged an impressive 1.278, leading Ventura to a 5-1 week. Her grand slam game-winning grand slam over Victor Valley headlined the impressive performance.

Brooklyn Heffernan earned Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing three-straight shutouts, including a 3-0 win over No. 8 Sacramento City College. In 21 innings she picked up 21 strikeouts, allowing only 11 hits and two walks.
