Hernandez, Anderson selected as Player and Pitcher of the Week
LOS ANGELES, Calif – Kalani Hernandez of Cosumnes River College and Olivia Anderson of San Diego Mesa College earn California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Player and Pitcher of the week honors on Monday, March 31.
Hernandez was a force at the plate last week, hitting safely in eight of her 11 at-bats. The sophomore catcher drove in six runs while scoring six after reaching base nearly 82% of the time. Hernandez helped the Hawks to key wins over Butte and No. 14 San Joaquin Delta.
Hernandez is pacing the Cosumnes River offense with a .398 batting average. She has seven doubles on the season.
Anderson made history in the circle, striking out 17 batters in back-to-back starts – one in an 11-inning performance against Southwestern and the next two days later in just seven innings against Grossmont. She finished her three starts with 38 punchouts. The freshman is third in the state, second in Southern California, and first in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference in strikeouts with 128 on the season.
Her 12 wins in the circle lead San Diego Mesa. She picked up three on the week, allowing five total runs in the process.
Notable Performances
Savanna Kastigar continues to tear it up for El Camino. She picked up 10 hits in four multi-hit games last week. She added four steals across five games.
Her teammate, Lexi Ramirez tossed two complete games, picking up a 0.44 ERA on the week with 14 strikeouts.
