Top-three stand pat, movement near the top in week nine coaches' poll

LOS ANGELES, Calif – The top three remain dominant through week nine, but the rest of the top sees a big shake up in this week’s California Community College Fastpitch Association Coaches’ Poll.

No. 1 West Valley, No. 2 Palomar and No. 3 San Mateo have remained in the same slots four consecutive weeks. They’ve been dominant and hold three of the top-five spots in the RPI.

The next two teams in the rankings make up the rest of the RPI top five – No. 4 Orange Coast and No. 5 Cypress. The Pirates leap five spots week nine and are rated the best team in Southern California based off the RPI. Currently on a nine-game winning streak, the Pirates have swept Santa Ana, Fullerton and hold a win over No. 19 Golden West to open Orange Empire play.

No. 6 Sequoias returns to its third-place ranking in the north that it held March 11. The Giants sit atop the Central Valley Conference after four wins, two over Coalinga and two against Merced. Their only loss came to San Mateo, 4-2. The rise came at the expense of No. 10 San Jose City. The Jags dropped four spots despite holding a 22-3 overall record, but two of their losses came last week – 4-1 to San Mateo and 1-0 to Hartnell, ending their 20-game winning streak.

Not much shake up in the south week nine as all 10 teams returned to the rankings. No. 15 Saddleback lept No. 17 Mt. San Antonio while No. 11 Cerritos and No. 13 Antelope Valley stand pat.
