West Valley holds steady for fourth-straight week

LOS ANGELES, Calif – West Valley keeps it rolling in week eight, retaining its No. 1 ranking for the fourth-straight week in this rendition of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Poll.

The Vikings went 5-0 last week, beating No. 3 San Mateo 5-3 in the teams’ first meeting of the season. They’ll face each other again in a Coast Conference showdown April 3. 

The Bulldogs hold just two losses, the other at the hand of No. 8 Yuba, who beat No. 12 Sequoias with a no-hitter from starting pitcher Danni Farris. Farris struck out nine and allowed only one baserunner, via a walk, en route to 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week honors.

Not much movement on the board in week eight with No. 2 Palomar holding steady in the south, winning 11 straight. The only shuffle at the top comes from No. 4 Cypress and No. 5 El Camino who flip-flopped for the second-straight week. Cypress was the only one of the duo who played last week, splitting a two-game set with No. 17 Saddleback before rain halted the rubber match.

We see two new faces join the party, No. 16 Santa Rosa is coming off two convincing victories over No. 19 Modesto. No. 20 Golden West slides into the final slot. The Rustlers are 16-2 and are on a 14-game winning streak.
