Cuellar named player, Hastin repeats as pitcher
LOS ANGELES, Calif – This week’s California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Player and Pitcher of the Week features a college’s first nod of the season and the first repeat of the 2025 season.
Mikayla Cuellar of Victor Valley College earns 3CFCA Player of the Week honors after a 7-for-12 week at the plate. The speedy second baseman swiped three bags and hit four triples, including one to walk-off a run-rule victory over San Bernardino Valley College. In that same game, Cuellar went 3-for-4 with four RBI. She drove in 11 runs on the week.
Taylor Hastin is back as the 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week. After receiving the nod exactly one month ago, February 10, the pitcher shutout No. 10 Fresno City in a 1-0 victory and handed No. 1 West Valley its first and only loss of the season in the same week. Hastin’s one-earned run performance on March 8 marked the fewest runs scored by the Vikings this season. On top of her dominance in the circle, Hastin drove in six runs at the plate.
Other Top Performers
Breanna Lutz of Palomar College reached base in seven of nine plate appearances. She drove in six runs and mashed a grand slam before being intentionally walked three times to end her week at the plate. Lutz is leading the state in batting average – .686, leading a state-best Palomar squad that is hitting .405 – and has reached base in 75% of her plate appearances.
