Paredes, Nava put up historic numbers in week two
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Two historic performances in week two of the season make Lindsay Paredes of American River College and Ariel Nava of San Joaquin Delta College the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Player and Pitcher of the Week on Monday, February 3.
Nava spun a five-inning perfect game in her first start and the Mustangs first game of the season against Reedley College on January 28. The sophomore struck out eight while keeping all 15 batters she faced off the bases.
Paredes hit for the cycle in her first game of the week against Merced College. The freshman third baseman went 5-for-5 with two homers and six RBI in game one and was a single away from the cycle in game two. On the week she hit safely in 12 of her 13 at bats, adding four walks, nine extra base hits, five bombs and 13 RBI.
Other Notable Performances
El Camino College sophomore pitcher Lexi Ramirez threw a five-inning no hitter. It was the first since 1990 for the Warriors.
Freshman Olivia Anderson from San Diego Mesa College threw 13 innings, picking up two wins while striking out nine.
Aaliyah Tinoco of Yuba College went 6-for-7 with three doubles, scoring four runs for the Niners.
