Fullerton Downs Delta 12-3, Advances to Championship
SARATOGA, CA — The Fullerton College Hornets are a win away from the state title.
The Hornets downed the San Joaquin Delta Mustangs 12-3 to advance to tomorrow's championship round. Fullerton is the last remaining undefeated team in the tournament. The Hornets are looking for their first title since 1980.
The Mustangs will be back in action tonight at 6 p.m. They will face the winner between Mt. San Antonio College and Cypress College in an elimination game. All remaining games will be played at West Valley College.
Veronica Moore paced the Hornets with a 4-5 performance at the plate with a double and four RBIs.
Fullerton hit the gas early, scoring three runs in the first sparked by a Moore RBI single. Jiana Lopez and Coco Siono followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Lopez and Siono finished with two RBIs apiece.

Caitlynn Campbell briefly shifted the momentum to the Mustangs with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first. But the Hornets kept rolling in the second bringing home four runs off an RBI from Moore and two Mustangs' errors.
The duo of Allyson Fuentes and Macy Brandl kept Delta in check. Fuentes went three innings in her start with two strikeouts. Brandl finished the game, struck out six, allowed just two hits, and took the win to improve to 23-3.
Alyssa Garcia spearheaded a big fourth inning for the Hornets in the fourth, driving in Haley Garcia with an RBI single. Alyssa Carcia finished with three hits and three runs. Jordan Elias crossed the plate three times for Fullerton.

Erica Tovar went 2-3 with a run for the Mustangs. Kenned Dingman added two RBIs.
Fullerton improves to 42-5 and Delta drops to 40-5.
