It was CSM’s 60th consecutive home win over three seasons. The Bulldogs are 37-3 overall this year

60TH STRAIGHT HOME WIN AS CSM BEATS NAPA, 8-3, IN REGION SOFTBALL OPENER
SAN MATEO -- Samantha Dean had a 3-run home run and Christy Peterson a 2-run triple as state top-ranked College of San Mateo opened the California Community College Athletic Association softball playoffs with an 8-3 win over visiting Napa Valley College Saturday afternoon. It was CSM's 60th consecutive home win over three seasons. The Bulldogs are 37-3 overall this year
The best of three game series concludes on Sunday, starting at 12 noon.
Morgan Jones rebounded from a shaky start to improve the state's best won-loss (percentage) record to 18-1. Napa (18-20) got a 3-run 2-out double from Taya de Alba to take an early 3-0 lead before the Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the first with Dean's homer to tie it. Jones polished it off with six scoreless innings and four strikeouts.
CSM waited until the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead on Peterson's triple to score Harlee Donovan (who had singled) and Meagan Wells (who had reached on an error). Donovan had three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Kaitlin Chang also had two hits, including a double.
The Bulldogs got a trio of insurance runs in the sixth.
