San Jose City clinches first place in conference

San Jose City College finished conference play today by beating MPC 4-2 and clinching first place in the Coast Conference South Division.

The Jaguars scored in the first inning with a three run homer off the bat of Danessa Augenstein scoring Maddie Carlson and Adriana Ibarra who both reached on base with walks.

In the fourth inning, MPC Corina Salinas hit a two run homerun scoring Sarah Spindel who reached on an error.

The Jaguars answered back in the bottom of the fourth with Andrea Lopez leading the inning off with a single.  Gaby Nowack had a sac bunt to move Andrea to second. She then advanced to third with a stolen base and scored on an error.

MPC threaten to score in the sixth inning with runners at second and third and no outs, but solid defense by San Jose City help to preserve the win extending their win streak to 14. Gaby Nowack pitched four innings for the win and Adriana Ibarra got the save by pitching three innings.
