CSM EDGES CABRILLO, 2-1, FOR 51ST CONSECUTIVE HOME SOFTBALL VICTORY
SAN MATEO – Jordan Davis executed a successful bunt single to bring home Christy Peterson in the bottom of the sixth inning to give state top-ranked College of San Mateo its 51st straight home softball victory, 2-1, over Cabrillo College in a showdown of Coast Conference division leaders Saturday. CSM (24-3) leads the Coast North at 6-1.

CSM EDGES CABRILLO, 2-1, FOR 51ST CONSECUTIVE HOME SOFTBALL VICTORY
SAN MATEO – Jordan Davis executed a successful bunt single to bring home Christy Peterson in the bottom of the sixth inning to give state top-ranked College of San Mateo its 51st straight home softball victory, 2-1, over Cabrillo College in a showdown of Coast Conference division leaders Saturday.
CSM (24-3) leads the Coast North at 6-1. Eighth-ranked Cabrillo (17-5) paces the Coast South, and is also now 6-1. CSM was upset on Thursday, 3-0, at another Coast team, San Jose City College (which is currently third in the Coast South at 5-3). San Mateo leads Ohlone (3-2) in the Coast North standings.
The Bulldogs scored their other run against Cabrillo in the first inning. Harlee Donovan ledoff with a walk, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Meagen Wells, and scored on a single by Peterson. Cabrillo got its only run in the top of the sixth on a wild pitch -- to deadlock the game.
Peterson, Kaitlin Chang and Davis had successive singles in the sixth to obtain the winning run. CSM failed to capitalize on opportunities to pad the lead in the sixth when both Chan and Peterson were thrown out a home on succeeding plays.
Samantha Dean (8-1) got the win as the pitcher of record in the sixth, her single inning of relief. Starter Morgan Jones scattered four hits over the first five shutout frames. Peterson pitched the final inning, retiring the side in order to gain the save, her first.
UPCOMING: The Bulldogs will spend the upcoming week on the road, visiting Gavilan College (4-16, 1-4) on Tuesday (March 22) at 3 p.m. in a Coast crossover game; then tackling tenth-ranked Sierra College (18-5) of the Big 8 Conference on Thursday in Rocklin at 1 p.m.
Next home game is March 29 against West Valley at 3 p.m.
