BULLDOGS RECORD 48TH STRAIGHT HOME WIN WITH DONOVAN'S WALKOFF HR
SAN MATEO – Reigning state homerun champion Harlee Donovan smacked a 2-run blast over the center field fence to give state top-ranked College of San Mateo a 4-2 walkoff softball victory over visiting No. 10 San Joaquin Delta College Thursday afternoon. It was the 48th consecutive home win over three seasons for the Bulldogs (20-2 overall this year).

Bulldogs Record 48th Straight Home Win Over 3 Seasons:
DONOVAN'S HOMERUN GIVES NO. 1 CSM 4-2 WALKOFF WIN OVER NO. 10 DELTA
SAN MATEO – Reigning state homerun champion Harlee Donovan smacked a 2-run blast over the center field fence to give state top-ranked College of San Mateo a 4-2 walkoff softball victory over visiting No. 10 San Joaquin Delta College Thursday afternoon.
It was the 48th consecutive home win over three seasons for the Bulldogs (20-2 overall this year).
Christy Peterson (5-1) got the comeback win, pitching the final three no-hit innings.
Delta took the initial lead, scoring single runs in the first and fourth innings.
Starting pitcher Samantha Dean aided her own cause with a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth. She later singled to leadoff the sixth inning and scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Ariana Garcia.
In the seventh, Kristen Kowaki reached on a 1-out single, bringing up leadoff hitter Donovan. The Bulldogs catcher responded with her seventh home run of the season and 27th of her CSM career to end it.
Donovan leads Northern California in home runs and is one behind state leader Melissa Boundy (8) of Los Angeles Mission College. Donovan and Dean pace Northern California with 28 RBIs a piece -- one short of the state lead. As a team, CSM has totaled the most RBIs (159) and hits (233) of any of the state's 82 teams.
CSM shortstop Meagan Wells leads the state with 34 hits and with 31 runs scored. Dean is second in hits with 31. Donovan ranks No. 2 in runs scored (29) and is Northern California's top slugger at .924.
--CSM returns to action Tuesday (March 8), hosting Hartnell College (9-9, 2-3) of the Coast South in a conference crossover game. CSM leads the Coast North at 3-0.
Clarification: Scheduled Coast softball crossover games do count in conference standings. whereas they do not count in baseball standings.
