Week #2 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #1 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Los Angeles Mission College sophomore infielder Melissa Boundy and West Valley College sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Guevara earned the honors.
Pitcher of the Week – Kaitlyn Guevara – West Valley College
Sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Guevara earned the 3CFCA State Pitcher of the Week honors after going 3-1 on the week with a 1.04 ERA. More impressively Guevara fanned 34 batters in 27 innings of work, averaging 1.3 strikeouts per inning of work. Guevara also helped her team out at the plate where she went 5 for 13 with a pair of doubles and 6 RBIs.
Player of the Week – Melissa Boundy – Los Angeles Mission College
Sophomore infielder Melissa Boundy had an impressive week at the plate for the Eagles. Boundy went 6 for 10 with 5 RBI's, 7 runs scored, 2 walks, a double, and 4 Homeruns over three games. In the first game of a double-header versus San Bernardino Valley College Boundy hit 3 homeruns. The last one came in the bottom of the 6th inning to give the Eagles the walk of victory. Boundy hails from North Hills, CA and prepped at John F. Kennedy High School.
