Week #10 Players of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #10 State Players of the Week. Palomar College's Summer Evans and Cosumnes River College's Amanda Horbasch earned the honors this week.
Player of the Week - Amanda Horbasch - Cosumnes River College
Freshman pitcher Amanda Horbasch dominated during Week #10 for Cosumnes River College. Horbasch opened up the week by throwing a three hit shutout against Santa Rosa Junior College, fanning 10 batters. She followed that up a few days later with a no-hitter against Modesto Junior College, striking out eight batters in five innings of work. Horbasch also contributed at the plate, going 4 for 8 with five runs scored and three RBI's. The sophomore right hander prepped at Woodcreek High School and hails from Roseville, CA.
Player of the Week - Summer Evans - Palomar College
Palomar College freshman pitcher Summer Evans was strong at the plate and in the circle for the Comets during Week #10 of action. Evans won two games and earned a save, helping Palomar to a 3-0 week. On the week, Evans earned wins over San Diego Mesa College and Mt. San Antonio College. In the win over the Olympians, Evans gave up just three hits, and against the Mounties she allowed just one run, while holding Mt. SAC to no extra base hits. In the Comets' game against Santiago Canyon College, Evans pitched the final 2.2 innings striking out four batters. At the plate, Evans went a combined 6 for 8 and scored a pair of runs. Evans hails from Escondido, CA where she prepped at Escondido High School.
