Week #5 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #5 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Allan Hancock College's Katie Chenault was named the State Pitcher of the Week, while Cosumnes River College's Hanna Miller took home the Player of the Week honors
Pitcher of the Week – Katie Chenault – Allan Hancock College
Allan Hancock College sophomore pitcher Katie Chenault is the 3CFCA Week #5 State Pitcher of the Week. During the week, Chenault was 2-0 with wins against Los Angeles Valley College and SoCal #9 Citrus College. In the win over LA Valley, Chenault gave up just two hits, issued one walk, and fanned 12 batters in an 8-0 win. Chenault also scored a run, batting in the fourth hole. The very next day, Chenault turned around and held one of the top offenses in the State to a single run, as the Bulldogs won 5-1. Chenault struck out eight batters, and went 1 for 3 at the plate with a home run. As of this writing, Chenault is second in the entire CCCAA in strikeouts with 119 so far on the year. Chenault prepped at Righetti High School and hails from Santa Maria, CA.
Player of the Week – Hanna Miller – Cosumnes River College
Sophomore Hanna Miller had a big week at the plate for the Hawks, going a combined 12 for 14 (.857) over the course of four contests as Cosumnes River went 3-1. Miller drove in a total of 11 RBI's on the week, scored three runs, and hit a double, a triple, and a home run. Miller had at least two RBI's in each contest, driving in three in the first three games of the week. She twice had a perfect day at the plate going 3 for 3 in a 9-0 win over Merced, before going 4 for 4 in a 5-6 loss to Butte. Miller prepped at Del Oro High School in Loomis, CA.
