#1 CSM SOFTBALL NOW 21-0 AFTER EXTRA INNING WIN AT #11 DELTA
State pitching leader Lauren Berriatua hit the game winning home run in the top of the eighth inning as top-ranked College of San Mateo won its toughest softball game of the season, 4-3, at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.
Berriatua went the distance to maintain her unbeaten record and win a state-leading 14th game – her third of the week. The homer was her seventh, ranking third in the state and second in Northern California. (The overall leader remains CSM's Harlee Donovan, who has hit 14 out of the park.)
--On Saturday (March 7) the Bulldogs (21-0) take their 4-0 Coast Conference North record to second place Foothill (11-9, 3-1) in Los Altos Hills at 12 noon.
CSM scored quickly, in the top of the first, but host Delta (13-6), ranked 11th in the state, tied it at one in the bottom of the third. The Bulldogs went ahead again in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs but the Mustangs responded to tie it again in the bottom of the frame – eventually leading to extra inning play.
