SAN MATEO -- State leaders Harlee Donovan and Lauren Berriatua added to their respective home run slugging and pitching totals as No. 1 College of San Mateo swept four 5-inning mercy-rule softball games the past week. On Saturday the top-ranked 19-0 Lady Bulldogs took care of College of the Sequoias of the Central Valley Conference, 8-0, and College of the Siskiyous of the Golden Valley Conference, 13-4; then beat Siskiyous again, 10-0, on Sunday. That added to a nine home run 27-0 whitewashing of City College of San Francisco in a Coast North Conference game during the week.

SAN MATEO -- State leaders Harlee Donovan and Lauren Berriatua added to their respective home run slugging and pitching totals as No. 1 College of San Mateo swept four 5-inning mercy-rule softball games the past week.
As designated player in Saturday's win over Siskiyous, Berriatua smashed her fifth home run (ranking sixth in the state) to help Lacie Crawford win her seventh game. Berriatua ranks No. 9 in state slugging at 1.071. Berriatua was unfazed against state hitting leader Rikki Kirchefer of Siskiyous, getting a strikeout and an infield putout in her two at bats.
CSM LEADS STATE IN 15 TEAM CATEGORIES:
The highest scoring team by far among the state's 80 community college squads, CSM has tallied 223 runs.
