The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #1 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. West Valley College's Kaitlyn Guevara was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Mt. San Antonio College's Celina Felix took home the Player of the Week honors
Pitcher of the Week – Kaitlyn Guevara – West Valley College
Freshman pitcher Kaitlyn Guevara is the 3CFCA State Pitcher of the Week for Week #1. Guevara made an immediate impact for the Vikings in their opening double-header against College of the Sequoias. In the first game, Guevara pitched a complete game, one hitter. Guevara fanned four batters and walked none. In the second game, Guevara came in for West Valley in the top of the fifth innings, and pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits, and striking out another hitter. Guevara also did extensive damage at the plate where she went 5 for 6 with a pair of runs, a pair of RBI's, and two stolen bases. Guevara prepped at Piedmont High School in Piedmont, CA.
Player of the Week – Celina Felix – Mt. San Antonio College
Sophomore third baseman Celina Felix is the 3CFCA State Player of the Week for Week #1. Felix earned the honors thanks to her performance in the Mounties' first two games of the year. Felix was a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate, with three of her five hits going for home runs. Felix drove in a total of eight RBI's over two games, and scored six runs. The sophomore hails from Montclair, CA where she prepped at Montclair HS.
