The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #10 Northern and Southern California Players. Citrus College's Sara Moore was named the Southern California Player of the Week, while College of the Desert's Alysas Fuimaono was named the SoCal Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week. In Northern California, San Jose City College's Krystal Rock was named the Player of the Week, while Solano College's Shannon Mestas was named the Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year.
Northern California Player of the Week – Krystal Rock – San Jose City College
In week 10, Rock was 8 for 14 at the plate, with two homeruns, two doubles and four RBIs. She scored 5 runs as the lead-off hitter for the Jaguars. In the win against San Mateo, Rock was 2-5 with a homerun and two RBIs. In the doubleheader against Fresno, Rock went 6-9 with one homerun and a pair of doubles. Krystal is a sophomore, and plays centerfield. She is from San Jose and went to Valley Christian High School.
Northern California Pitcher of the Week – Shannon Mestas – Solano College
Solano College continued their win streak with non-conference victories over Santa Rosa College and Consumes River College. Shannon Mestas got both victories in the circle for the Falcons. Against Santa Rosa, Mestas struck out eight and only gave up three hits. Against Cosumnes River, Mestas threw a two hit shut-out against, again striking out 8. Mestas is a 5'4 freshman righty, who came to the Falcons from Clayton Valley HS in Concord, CA.
Southern California Player of the Week – Sara Moore – Citrus College
In four games, Moore was 6 for 12 with three runs scored and four RBI's. Moore hit a pair of doubles, a triple, and drew two walks. Moore didn't strikeout at all during the week, and helped the Owls go 4-0. Moore is a 5'6 lefty hitting sophomore first baseman for the Owls. Moore attended San Dimas High School, in San Dimas, CA.
Southern California Pitcher of the Week – Alyssa Fuimaono – College of the Desert
Fuimaono wins her second straight SoCal Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing two complete game victories during Week #10. Fuimaono threw a complete game shutout against Rio Hondo College to start out the week, allowing just three hits while fanning a trio of batters. Later in the week against Fullerton, Fuimaono scattered seven hits, and one earned run in another complete game victory, where she struck out seven. Fuimaono is a sophomore for Desert out of Beaumont, CA where she attended Beaumont High School.
