Week #4 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #4 Northern California Player and Pitcher of the Week and the Southern California Player and Pitcher of the Week. Cosumnes River College's Amanda Horbasch won her second NorCal Pitcher of the Week honor, while Lassen College's Erica Estrada was named the NorCal Player of the Week. In Southern California, Palomar College's Kristina Carbajal was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Mt. San Antonio College's Charlotte Foster wins her second Player of the Week nod.
Northern California Player of the Week – Erica Estrada – Lassen College
In six games, Estrada went 10 for 17 at the plate with three runs and a pair of RBI's. In the final game of the week, Estrada had her best outing, going 3 for 3 with a run and an RBI in a close 5-8 loss to De Anza College. Estrada is a sophomore shortstop out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Northern California Pitcher of the Week – Amanda Horbasch – Cosumnes River College
On the week, Horbasch went 3-0, with wins over San Jose City College, Merced College, and Fresno City College. Horbasch totaled 28 K's on the week, and gave up just 10 total hits. Against Merced, Horbasch had her best game of the week, surrendering just a pair of hits, while fanning 13 batters. Horbasch is a right hander out of Roseville, California.
Southern California Player of the Week – Charlotte Foster – Mt. San Antonio College
Foster had a big week at the plate for the Mounties, going 12 for 21 with 11 RBI's. Foster hit four home runs on the week, hitting two against Bakersfield College and two more against Southwestern College. Foster also swiped a pair of bases and scored seven runs on the week. Fosters hails from Murrieta, California where she attended Murrieta Valley High School.
Southern California Pitcher of the Week – Kristina Carbajal – Palomar College
Carbajal appeared in the circle in one game for the Comets during the week, pitching all five innings, surrendering just one hit and no walks, while striking out three in a 9-0 win for Palomar. Carbajal also went 2 for 3 with a run and four RBI's in that game, and followed that up with a 2 for 3 effort with another run and RBI in Palomar's only other game during the week. Carbajal is a freshman right hander out of San Marcos, California where she attended Mission Hills High School.
