MADERA - entral Valley Conference commissioner Kulwant Singh has announced the addition of Madera Community College to the conference's membership. Madera was officially welcomed to the CVC on March 30 following a unanimous vote at the conference's Board of Directors Meeting in Visalia.
"The Central Valley Conference is pleased to welcome Madera Community College as the 11th member of the conference," said Singh. "We are excited that students at Madera Community College will receive sport participation opportunities. We look forward to seeing the college's athletic program grow over the coming years."
Madera is set to begin competing in intercollegiate sports during the 2023-24 academic year. According to Singh, the "Mountain Lions" will initially field teams in women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, and women's swimming and diving.
The Central Valley Conference is currently comprised of Clovis Community College, Columbia College, Fresno City College, Merced College, Porterville College, Reedley College, College of the Sequoias, Taft College, West Hills College Coalinga, and West Hills College Lemoore. Madera is the fourth State Center Community College District school that will be competing in the CVC, joining Fresno City, Reedley, and Clovis.
The conference currently sponsors competition in baseball, basketball (men's/women's), cross country (men's/women's), golf (men's/women's), soccer (men's/women's), softball, swimming & diving (men's/women's), track & field (men's/women's), and women's volleyball.
The Central Valley Conference thanks the Madera Community College leadership of President Dr. Angel Reyna and Vice President Dr. Marie Harris.
