5CTCA announces its Week 5 Runners of the Week
SALINAS - The 5CTCA recognizes the outstanding performances of Julia Martinez (Clovis CC), Johnny Sandoval (SJ Delta), Savannah Ganter (Riverside City), and Victor Rosas (SD Mesa) in Week #5. We congratulate these four athletes and their programs.
Victor Rosas of San Diego Mesa College placed fifth overall and fourth amongst college runners at the Cougar Classic hosted by CSU San Marcos. Rosas covered the 8km course in 24:48 finishing ahead of many four-year teams' top runners in the 15-team affair.
Riverside City College saw Savannah Ganter step up into the lead role for the Tigers at the Golden West Invitational at Central Park in Huntington Beach. Ganter won the 5k race in 19:37 and was eleven seconds up on second place.
In the North, Julia Martinez of Clovis Community College made her 2023 debut with a solid second-place finish at the George Brooks Memorial Invitational. Martinez covered the three-mile course in 19:00 and led The Crush to the team victory.
Johnny Sandoval of San Joaquin Delta has quietly enjoyed a steady sophomore campaign placing fourth at the Pat Ryan Invitational, twelfth at the Fresno Invitational, and fourth at the George Brooks Memorial Invitational. He covered the 4.07-mile course in 21:52 and gave the Mustangs two runners in the top four overall.
