Week #2 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #2 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Diablo Valley College's Ashley Allen is the State Player of the Week, while Cypress College's Taylor Pierce takes home the State Pitcher of the Week honors.
Player of the Week – Ashley Allen – Diablo Valley College
Freshman short stop Ashley Allen has played a big role in the Vikings hot start to 2015, and them rocketing to #9 in the State rankings and #4 in the Northern California rankings. For her efforts she is the 3CFCA State Player of the Week for Week #2. Last week, Allen went 7 for 10 at the plate, slugged a whopping 1.700, driving in four RBI's and scoring four runs. Allen hit a pair of doubles, a pair of home runs, and a triple. In a 7-2 win over Foothill College, Allen was 2 for 2 with a home run, two RBI's, two runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases. Against De Anza College, Allen was 3 for 4, and finished a single short of the cycle. She started out the week by going 2 for 4 in a 5-4 win over State #12 Ohlone College. Allen prepped at Clayton Valley High School and hails from Concord, CA.
Pitcher of the Week – Taylor Pierce – Cypress College
Freshman pitcher Taylor Pierce is the 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week for Week #2 after helping lead the Chargers to a 4-0 record during their opening week of competition. Pierce went 3-0 in the circle with a 1.26 ERA, fanning eight batters in 11.1 innings worth of work. Pierce also played a big role at the plate where she went 6 for 12 with six runs scored and drove in five RBI's. Against State #9 Cerritos College, Pierce went 2 for 4 at the plate and drove in three runs, before coming in the top of the fifth inning and shutting down the Falcon bats, not giving up a hit or a run, as the Chargers staged a comeback in a 8-7 win. Pierce prepped at La Habra High School and hails from Norwalk, CA.
