Daktronics to Sponsor NATYCAA Cup to Recognize Overall Program Excellence
CLEVELAND - The National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) is proud to announce industry leader Daktronics as the official sponsor of the Association's Cup Awards Program, which will now be known as the Daktronics Cup.
Now in its 16th year, the Daktronics Cup (formerly NATYCAA Cup) recognizes the top programs in three divisions of two-year college intercollegiate athletics, which include all 660+ members of NATYCAA. Divisions include: NJCAA Scholarship Division, NJCAA Non-Scholarship Division and the State Associations Division. Colleges earn points based on their performance in each division's end of the season championship events. The winners of each championship earn 20 points, second-place finishes earn 19 points, third-place finishers receive 18 points, etc. Colleges use their top-five sports finishes per gender to accumulate points toward their division's cup standings. First, second and third-place awards are presented at NATYCAA's Annual Convention in June.
NATYCAA Director of External Relations, Ron Case stated, "NATYCAA is extremely happy to expand its long-time relationship with Daktronics to include sponsorship of the Daktronics Cup. We are most appreciative of Daktronics stepping forward to support all of two-year college athletics with this endeavor."
NATYCAA President, Doug Spiwak, director of athletics at Harper College, added, "I am excited to be a part of a new beginning for NATYCAA as we move forward with Daktronics as the sponsor of the NATYCAA Cup. Who better to acknowledge excellence than a corporation that exemplifies it! On behalf of NATYCAA and the Executive Board, I would like to thank Daktronics for their generous contribution and support for our organization."
Daktronics Market Manager, Kyle Sydow stated, "Daktronics is proud to expand our corporate sponsorship with NATYCAA to include the Daktronics Cup. We have a tradition of supporting student-athletes at the post-secondary level and it is a natural evolution for us to recognize the best programs within NATYCAA annually, through sponsorship of this awards program."
Daktronics National Sales Manager, Tom Coughlin added, "The two-year college sector is a key component of our business and NATYCAA is a natural choice for us to partner with based on the comprehensive membership the organization maintains. We are honored to help NATYCAA continue to recognize overall program excellence at the two-year college level."
The first Daktronics Cup will be awarded at the Annual NATYCAA Awards Luncheon, June 10, at the 2019 NATYCAA Convention, at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, Florida. On-campus presentations of the top three award recipients in each division will be made during the 2019 fall sports season.
