Baseball Rebounds with 9-8 Victory over Mendocino

Fairfield, Calif. - Freshman Nico Castrillo counted his third RBI on the day to score the go-ahead run as the Solano baseball team rebounded with a 9-8 win over Mendocino on Thursday afternoon to wrap pre-conference tournament play.

Castrillo went 2-for-4 on the day and was one of three Falcons with a multi-hit outing. Freshman Jaxson Bates recorded a 2-for-3 day with three runs scored and a RBI, while freshman Victor Vega went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI. Bates and Vega were also the two Falcons to record a multi-base hit with a double each.

Freshman Jesse Rodriguez (1-3) tallied the win on the mound, fanning eight. He allowed no earned runs and scattered six hits through 4.1 innings. Freshman Josh Petrill earned his first save of the season, tossing a one-hitter ninth inning.

The Falcons (3-13) opens conference play next, hosting Yuba on Tuesday, Mar. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
