Falcons Fight Hard in Close Battle Against Cosumnes River Hawks

The Folsom Lake Falcons showed resilience and determination in their matchup against Cosumnes River on Thursday, rallying late but ultimately coming up just short in a 6-4 contest. Despite the final score, the Falcons had several bright spots that showcased their tenacity and potential.

Trailing 4-0 in the fifth inning, Folsom Lake found its spark thanks to an electric at-bat from second baseman Micah Kendrick. Kendrick delivered a clutch two-run triple, scoring Trajan Rogowski and Michael Ryan to put the Falcons on the board. Moments later, Kendrick capitalized on a passed ball, racing home to cut the deficit to just one run at 4-3.

The Falcons' pitching staff also displayed grit, with Nick Haas and N. Lawrie combining to keep the game within reach. Haas worked 2.1 innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out three, while Lawrie followed with two strong frames, surrendering an unearned run and fanning two.

As the game entered the eighth inning, Folsom Lake remained within striking distance. Rogowski's patience at the plate paid off, drawing a walk and later scoring on another bases-loaded free pass, bringing the Falcons to within two runs at 6-4.

Defensively, the Falcons turned a sharp double play, with Kendrick, first baseman Logan Pruski, and shortstop Adam Reyes combining for a key defensive stop that helped keep the game close.

Though the Falcons managed just three hits, they demonstrated strong plate discipline, drawing six walks and putting pressure on the Cosumnes River pitchers throughout the game. Their late-inning push showed the fight and determination that will serve them well as they continue their season.

While the final score didn't go their way, Folsom Lake proved they have the ability to compete at a high level. With continued growth and execution, the Falcons will be a tough team to beat in the games ahead.
