REDWOOD CITY, CA – The SBCC baseball team continued its hot start on Friday, setting new early season-highs of 15 hits and 15 runs in a 15-2 victory at Canada College.

The Vaqueros (4-0), who also had their most home runs yet with three, have outscored their opponent by at least nine runs in all four of their wins.

Santa Barbara got three of its first four batters on base to start the game. After a walk and a steal, centerfielder Carson Cahoy opened the scoring on a Patrick Walsh single. Third baseman Jack Johnson hit a two-run double soon after and would score on a Marcus Weinzimer RBI.

Leading 4-1 heading into the fourth, the Vaqueros would prepare to blow the game open. Two more big hits highlighted the inning, as second baseman Daniel Ghiorso doubled to bring Weinzimer home and first baseman Presley Kosciusko brought in two more runs on a triple, making it 8-1.

Solo home runs by Johnson and Ghiorso were followed up by an eighth inning grand slam by designated hitter JP Boyle, capping SBCC's high-scoring day.

The Vaquero pitching staff set a new season-high with 18 strikeouts, with Aiden Garza getting the win in five innings of work and Jack Holland and Carter Park tossing six Ks each.
