After losing the first game, the Hornets came back to win the next three to defeat visiting Golden West College on Wednesday night.
FC took a 3-0 advantage in the first game, but the Rustlers swung the momentum their way after tying it up at 8-8. Down 24-19, FC fought back to tie the game up, but the GWC held strong to take the game 26-24. Again, Fullerton jumped out ahead of Golden West in game two, but this time the Hornets maintained a narrow lead throughout to win it 25-21. Playing strong up front and making fewer mistakes, games three and four ended with Hornet wins 25-21 and 25-20.
Three FC players had a double-digit night in kills. Leading the way was Leonardo Mazuco with 16, Miguel Cortez had 13, and David Lucio brought down 11. Evan Shank dished out 38 assists and contributed 7 digs. Hunter Wong-Hin protected the floor with a team-high 14 digs, while Cortez and Lucio both chipped in with 9. Cortez also had 9 blocks on the night.
