SHASTA SPLITS GVC DOUBLEHEADER WITH SISKIYOUS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College baseball team split a Golden Valley Conference series against College of the Siskiyous, winning 7-4 on March 11 before falling 12-9 in Game 1 of the following game.

The second game of the doubleheader was halted with Siskiyous leading 14-10 after six innings due to darkness and will be made up at a later date.

Shasta 7, Siskiyous 4
The Knights scored at least one run in the fifth through eighth innings to earn the victory. Keanu Mizuta was 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, Jaden Gorges was 2 for 2 with a run, Ethan Williams was 2 for 5 with two runs, Giacomo Crosetti was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and Noah Weaver was 1 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Max Nebel picked up the win on the mound. He struck out six, walked one and gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings. Alex Alvarez struck out three across his two scoreless innings of relief and Chase Rossman closed the game having given up an unearned run.

Siskiyous 12, Shasta 9
Derek Ray drove in Weaver on a ground-rule double in the top of the eighth inning to pull Shasta within one but Siskyous scored three in the bottom half of the frame to pull away for the victory. Stephen Nelson was 3 for 5 with a double, four RBIs and a run, Chris Jacobsen was 3 for 3 with a triple, double and an RBI, Mizuta was 1 for 4 with two runs, Gorge scored twice, and Weaver and Crosetti each had a hit and scored a run. Kaden Nicholes took the loss in relief, giving up three unearned runs on three hits in 1.1 innings. Starter Payton Jeffries struck out two, walked four and gave up six runs on six hits in three innings.
