SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC softball team scored the final three runs against Ventura, but it wasn't enough to overcome a hot start for the Pirates, who earned a 7-3 win.

ON THE STAT SHEET

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st-2nd Innings (7-0 VCC)

  • The Vaqueros got just one batter on base in the first two innings, as Depasquale singled with two outs on the first.
  • Ventura came out firing, loading the bases with one out in the first before scoring on three straight at bats to go up 4-0.
  • In the second, the Pirates put up three more runs on three hits, including a two-run single by Lauren Albrent.

5th-7th Innings (7-3 VCC)

  • Neither team scored again until the fifth, when SBCC's offense got on track with two runs on three hits. Mckinnzie Grossini took advantage of a Pirate error and stole second before Perez earned a walk. Barth then loaded the bases with a single.
  • The Vaqueros got their first scratch with an RBI fielder's choice by Sandhal to bring Grossini home. Indermuehle then singled to score a run from Perez, making it 7-2.
  • After holding Ventura hitless for the second straight inning, SBCC scored one more run. Hammonds reached made it on base on an error and made her way to third soon after. Perez then hit a sacrifice fly into right field as Hammonds scored. However, that would be the final run of the day.
