Porterville College sophomore Kuea Angilau continued her assault on opposing pitchers on Tuesday. She smashed a pair of home runs in what proved to be one of the few bright spots for the Pirates in a pair of non-conference losses at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.

Cuesta swept the doubleheader, handing Porterville a 17-5 loss in Game 1 before PC dropped a 20-3 game to close the day. Both games were called after five innings.

Angilau currently leads the state with five home runs this season.

Already trailing 9-0, Angilau hit her first home run of the day as part of a five-run, third inning rally. Her two-run shot drove in Julie Rocha. Two batters later, Ally Boyd matched Angilau, hitting a two-run home run of her own to bring in Anissa Gomez. Veronica Bosquez hit an RBI ground out to drive in Sayra Sanchez for PC other run.

Porterville couldn't overcome eight errors made on the field that led to 15 unearned runs. Boyd took the loss despite allowing just one earned run (9 runs) and 5 hits over 1 1/3 innings. Chalisse Kela was also credited with allowing one earned (8 runs) and 5 hits over 2 2/3 innings.

The Pirates cut back on the errors in Game 2, but still made four that led to eight unearned runs. Cuesta scored twice in the first and five more in the second to go up 7-0.

Angilau's two-run homer in the third finally got PC on the board. Bosquez hit an RBI single in the fourth for the Pirates' final run of the day. Porterville totaled four hits in the finale.

In the circle, Boyd earned the loss after allowing 7 earned runs and 12 hits over 3 2/3 innings.

Porterville fell to 3-7 overall and returns to action on Wednesday (Feb. 12) when it travel to Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria for a 1 p.m. game.
