Softball Sweeps Shasta to Open March

Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano softball team opened March with a sweep of Shasta, 4-0 and 7-6, on Thursday afternoon.

Freshmen Maleah Martinez and Kristy Regalado led the Falcon offense with a RBI each in game one, batting fifth in the order.

In game two, four Falcons recorded multi-hit outings, led by freshman Bianca Belo-Diaz's 3-for-4 performance with a pair of runs and RBI. Freshmen Naiya Watts and Gabriela Ibarra both went 2-for-3 with Ibarra counting the team's only multi-base hit with a double. And freshman Britney Lentino posted a 2-for-4 outing with a pair of runs.

In the circle, Martinez and freshman Kalia Dondoy both picked up wins with Martinez pitching the two-hitter complete-game shutout, while fanning 10. Dondoy went five innings, allowing no earned runs and scattering six hits.

Solano (3-9) remains home to host San Jose on Saturday, Mar. 5. The doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.
