GCC Baseball wins third straight game, beats Santa Ana 8-4 Feb. 28 to improve to 10-4

The GCC Baseball Team improved to 10-4 with an 8-4 win on the road at Santa Ana College Tuesday Feb. 28 for its third straight win. The Vaqs banged out 13 hits, including three solo homers, two by Joey Craig in the first and fifth innings and a solo knock by Tommy Italia in the eighth inning. Glendale also had a scoring double by Craig and two baggers by Jackson Benattar and Alec Garcia. Craig ended the day with four RBI, three hits and two runs scored, and Italia had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

Maximo Newhart got the pitching win in relief of starter Boon Fay. Newhart pitched three innings and allowed three hits, one run and had one strikeout and Fay struck out four and allowed six hits and three runs and Tobias Plotkin finished up and struck out two and allowed one hit in his two innings of work.

Glendale plays three games at home over the next four days, hosting Santa Ana at 2 pm Thursday March 2, Saddleback at 3 pm Friday March 3 and Orange Coast Saturday March 4 with all games played at Stengel Field.
