The Santiago Canyon College Hawks defeated Santa Ana College 3-1 with a walk off double in the bottom of the 7th inning after dropping game one to the Dons 9-2. Hailey Guillen recorded the loss in game one, throwing 3.2 innings before being relieved by Scarlett Adams who threw the remaining 3.1 innings. Samantha Villanueva led the offensive charge for SCC in game one going 2-for-3.
The Hawks took an early lead in game two, pushing a run across in the first inning on an RBI single from Hailey Guillen. Guillen drove in Sabrina Rivera who had reached on a bunt single and later advanced to second on a bunt and third on a ground ball. Both teams remained scoreless over the next four innings before the Hawks were able to strike again in the bottom of the 6th. Adriana Martinez started the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Liliana Navarro. Martinez was able to advance to third on a groundball from Guillen, before scoring on a base hit from Samantha Villanueva.
The Dons made a comeback in the top of the 7th. With two outs, Santa Ana had a single and a double to put the tying runs in scoring position. A single up the middle tied the game up 2-2, but eventual winning pitcher Scarlett Adams was able to induce an infield pop up to stop the threat.
In the bottom of the 7th pinch hitter, Alicia Fitzgerald, was able to reach first base on a walk and then was replaced by left fielder Nicole Crabb. The Hawks saw themselves with 2 outs and a runner on first when Sabrina Rivera delivered a 2 out, double to the right center gap that scored Crabb for the walk-off win. Scarlett Adams picked up the win throwing a complete game and holding the Dons to 6 hits and 2 runs with no walks.
The Hawks final regular season series begins on Wednesday at home against Golden West College. The first pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
