Warriors Lose at Chaffey College

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball team fell 5-1 on the road on Wednesday at Lowder Field at Chaffey College.

Chaffey (7-3) broke a 2-1 game open in the sixth inning with three runs after an El Camino College (5-4) error to take a four run lead and make it a 5-1 game.  

Jimmy Galicia drew the loss after throwing six innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits, one walk, and striking out seven batters. Garrett Spicuzza threw two scoreless innings of relief.

Elias Jauregui picked up the win for the Panthers after going eight innings and allowing one run on six hits, zero walks, and fourteen punch outs.

The Warriors had six hits for the day with Benny Casillas as the sole Warrior with a multi-hit day.

Chaffey took the first lead of the game in the third inning after an RBI single by Jared Bujanda. 

The Warriors tied the game up at 1-1 in the fifth inning after Chase Cosner singled in Chris Villavicencio.  But the Panthers got the run right back in the next half inning to make it a 2-1 game. 

The Panthers put away the game in the sixth inning after scoring three runs.  Galicia got the first two batters out to start the inning before allowing a double.  An error by the Warriors infield extended the inning and the Panthers had two more hits that brought in three unearned runs.

The Warriors will look to shake things off as they head to Chula Vista to take on Southwestern College on Thursday, February 13th.
