Women’s Volleyball: Roadrunners end slide with 3-1 win over East Los Angeles

Freshman Nadine Oronez had a huge match, posting 18 kills, 27 digs, and six aces to help lead the Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 South Coast Conference win over visiting East Los Angeles College on Wednesday.

The Roadrunners won the match by scores of 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 25-21 to snap a two-match losing streak. Rio Hondo moved to 8-12 overall and 6-7 in the SCC with just three regular-season matches remaining.

The Roadrunners played well on defense, racking up 129 digs against the Huskies. Faith Lee posted 26 digs, Faith Wada added 24, and Denisse Sanchez had 16. Wada also led Rio Hondo with 40 assists while Alena Fandino chipped in with six kills and 10 digs.

Rio Hondo returns to the court on Friday (Oct. 29) when the Roadrunners travel to El Camino College for a 6 p.m. South Coast Conference match.
