Bobcats beat Grossmont for 4-0 start

The Saddleback women's tennis team improved to 4-0 with a 6-3 win at Grossmont College on Thursday in El Cajon.  The Bobcats remain undefeated heading into Orange Empire Conference play next week.

Saddleback used depth to win on Thursday as the Bobcats had too much talent on the back half of the roster for the Griffins.  Saddleback won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles while winning at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to close out Grossmont.

Brooke Buser, Kavelle Tomaiko and Emily West were all two-time winners on the day, winning in both doubles and singles matches.  West never lost a game all day, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles while teaming with Tomaiko for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.  Saddleback clinched the team win when Ainsley Beresford defeated her opponent at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-2) as the Bobcats grabbed a 5-2 lead.

Saddleback is 4-0 for the first time since 2017 when the program started 4-0.  The last time Saddleback won five straight matches to start the season was in 2010 when it went 18-0 and captured the state title.

Saddleback will open Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday when it hosts Cypress College.  Match time is scheduled for 2:00 PM at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.
