HOLDING OFF TIGERS

HOLDING OFF TIGERS

In an exciting OEC road-game, the Hornets held off a surging Riverside City College squad Tuesday night 78-75.

It was the final regular-season game of the season, and the Hornets did not disappoint as the team closed out the game on a 5-0 run for the undefeated conference finish.

RCC trailed by 10 points at halftime and quickly went down 13 points after the Hornets opened second half play with a three-pointer by Jeremiah Davis. Riverside continued to press ahead eventually trimming the deficit to four points. Fullerton is the first team in OEC history to pull off a 16-win conference record at 16-0!

With just under eight minutes left, Riverside was able to knot the game up at 61 and eventually took a 72-67 lead with four minutes left. A barrage of threes by Kobe Newton, Shaquil Bender, and Jeremiah Davis pushed the Tiger offensive back as FC regained its lead. Up 76-75, Sean Newman Jr. put the game on ice knocking down two free throws with 15 seconds left. The Hornet D did the rest forcing the Tigers to shoot an off-balanced three-pointer that missed for the win.

Kobe Newton led all scorers in the game with 23 points while adding 5 boards. Shaquil Bender scored 18 points with 5 rebounds, while Jeremiah Davis pumped in 13 points with 6 rebounds. Sean Newman Jr. had 12 points with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Mike Ofoegbu put up 8 points.
