SARATOGA, Calif. --- Bridget Dorr and Ryan D'Angelo advanced to the final day of the beach volleyball season after winning two of their three matches in pool play on Friday afternoon at the 2024 3C2A Beach Volleyball Pairs State Championships.

The Warriors' top duo this season entered the day as the No. 6 seed from Southern California and were assigned to Pool 6 in the afternoon wave of matches.

Their first tilt of the day came against the team of Natalia Brandlin and Audrey Fowler of Irvine Valley, the No. 15 seed from SoCal.

The Warriors duo went the distance but came out on top in three sets.

In their second match of the day, D'Angelo and Dorr overcame a 1-0 deficit against Megan Rice and Kayla Smith of Monterey Peninsula, the No. 11 seed from Northern California, to clinch a birth into Saturday's round of 16.

The last match of the day for the Warriors' No. 1 team came against a Malia Edwardson and Ashlan Van Gronigen of Fresno City, the No. 3 seed from Northern California. Dorr and D'Angelo would fall in two sets but will still be four wins away from a state title on Saturday.

The team will return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the round of 16 where they will face Pool 5 winners Tessa Marocco and Kenzie Dews of Irvine Valley.

It will be the third time the two pairs face off in the last two weeks. D'Angelo and Dorr defeated Dews and Marocco on April 30, 2-0 (25-15, 25-14) in the 3C2A SoCal Team Regionals at ECC but the Lasers' duo returned the favor with a win in three (28-26, 24-26, 15-6) over the ECC top pair at last week's 3C2A Pairs Regionals, also at ECC on May 4.
