EL CAJON – The Lady Griffins defeated the Cypress College Chargers 8-1 in a lengthy four-hour match on Tuesday, February 28 at the Grossmont Tennis Center. 

The Griffins (1-2) got wins at the number two and three doubles and sweeping the singles portion of the event. 

Grossmont's Ellie Capurro and Crystal Hernandez came from behind to win at the number two doubles match over Mia Kassabian and Kassy Nguyen of Cypress (1-8) by an 8-6 score. Following their lead, number three doubles made up of Edie Guthrie and Loribeth Ulloa secured a 9-8 score over the Cypress team of Sidney Dominquez and Eliza Carrille. 

All six of the Griffins' singles matches resulted in wins. 

Grossmont will be back in action on Thursday, March 2 when they open Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play. The defending PCAC champs will open with San Diego City at the Grossmont Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m.
