Rams come up short in conference title run, fall 1-0 at Cabrillo in regular-season finale

APTOS – City College of San Francisco and Cabrillo College, the top two teams in the Coast Conference, met on Friday to decide the Southern Division championship. CCSF and Cabrillo entered the game with matching 8-0 conference records while the Seahawks hadn't allowed a goal in conference play.  Cabrillo continued that trend by holding the Rams scoreless in a 1-0 loss.

Jennifer Limon's goal in the 33rd minute off a corner kick proved to be the game-winner. CCSF goalkeeper Elvira Motuapuaka posted 6 saves in a strong effort while the Rams' offense totaled 5 shots on goal.

The "championship game" was set up by a 1-0 win at Cañada College on Tuesday. Nare Avetian scored her fourth goal of the season in the 33rd minute off the assist from Maleah Evans.

Evans leads the Rams in scoring with 48 points (20 goals, 8 assists).

CCSF allowed just two goals in conference play all season and dropped to 8-1 and 14-3-1 overall. Despite the second-place Coast Conference South Division finish, the Rams should still receive a top-five seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs that are set to begin on Nov. 19.

Last season, the Rams shared the Coast South title with Cabrillo and advanced to the second round of the NorCal Playoffs.
