AVC Football improved to 2-2 with a 27-14 win over Pasadena City College on Saturday. It was the first time in history that the two football programs played each other.
The Marauders wasted little time setting the tone with an interception just two plays into the Lancer's first drive. Cameren Carlisle picked off Anthony Arnou to set up the first Marauder scoring opportunity. AVC cashed in as Daryus Warren connected with Alijah Steele for a 6-yard passing touchdown. In the second quarter, the Marauders would capitalize on another interception. This time it was Ethan John with the pick and a 29-yard return to the Lancer 13-yard line. Amir Bankhead capped off the turnover with an 8-yard touchdown run. AVC took a 14-7 lead into the locker room at the half.
Deep into the third quarter, Antelope Valley extended the lead to 21-7 with another touchdown run. Amir Bankhead ended an 8-play, 99-yard drive with a 1-yard score, his team-high fourth rushing touchdown of the season. Bankhead finished with a game-high 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The Marauder offense continued to click in the fourth quarter as Que Allen caught a pass from Daryus Warren and took it 41 yards for the score. Warren ended with 100 yards passing and two touchdowns on the day. Allen finished with 78 yards of total offense and a touchdown. Running back Jackson Marshall added 4 carries for 34 yards that included a couple of eye-opening moves. AVC's defense was anchored by Ethan John, 8 tackles, and RB Wilson V, who had 7 tackles. Caden Hinton and Gannon Ginnis also had 5 tackles each.
The Marauders will travel to Citrus and LA Valley before returning home to face Santa Monica College on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 2:00 pm.
