The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team won the opening game of the series against the Orange Coast College Pirates 9-6 before dropping game 2 in the series 8-4. Scarlett Adams recorded her first win in the circle for SCC throwing a complete game. Kayla Romero recorded the loss for the Hawks in game two after throwing the first two innings before Hailey Guillen came into the game in relief.
Offensively, in game one, the Hawks were led by Samantha Villanueva who went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, 2 Runs scored, a walk, and a homerun. Sabrina Rivera, Adriana Martinez, Liliana Navarro, Hailey Guillen, and Alex Molina all had 2 hit performances as well.
In game two, the Hawks fell behind early but came back to put the game within one run in the second inning. However, the Pirates were able to extend their lead in the 6th. Hailey Guillen continued her hot streak at the plate going 3-for-3 in the second game. Jazmyn Moetului had a stellar day at the plate going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in the second game as well. In the bottom half of the 6th, the Hawks looked to rally back but fell just short and the game was called at that point due to darkness.
The Hawks will look to pick up two more wins on Friday when they complete the series at Orange Coast. The double header is scheduled to start at 12pm with game two following at approximately 2:30.
