Bakersfield and Fullerton Split Two-Game Series

BAKERSFIELD, CA. – In a tightly contested two-game series, the Bakersfield College baseball team and Fullerton College each secured a victory, with the Renegades taking Game 1 in dramatic fashion before the Hornets responded with a dominant performance in Game 2.

Game 1: Bakersfield mounted an impressive comeback to edge out Fullerton 8-7 at home. After falling behind 4-0 in the top of the first, the Renegades responded with a five-run third inning, led by Trent Martin's bases-clearing double.

Trenton Hernandez also delivered in the clutch with three RBIs, while Liam O'Reilly added an RBI single. Fullerton powered the offense with two RBIs each, but the Renegades' bullpen, anchored by Frank Fabian (1-0), shut down the Hornets late. Kaleb Pinedo recorded his fourth save of the season to seal the win.

Game 2: Fullerton bounced back in Game 2 at Hornet Field with an offensive explosion, defeating BC 14-5. The Hornets' bats came alive early, plating seven runs in the first two innings, including a three-run effort and a two-RBI performance.

Bakersfield attempted to rally behind Liam O'Reilly's two-run double and a late RBI from Nicle Luna, but Fullerton's pitching, held the Renegades to just eight hits while striking out 18. Fullerton's aggressive baserunning, with four stolen bases, helped keep the pressure on Bakersfield throughout the game.

With the series split, Bakersfield moves to 8-6 on the season and will begin conference play on Tuesday, March 4th opening at Citrus College for the start of the three-game series. BC will host Citrus on Thursday, at 2:00pm.
