LANCASTER - Erica Serfoss and Rebecca Whelchel each went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Marauder softball team in an easy 16-7 victory over former conference foe San Bernardino Valley College in five innings.
Over the past four games (three wins), AVC has averaged nearly 13 runs per game. But hitting isn't the problem for the Marauders. It's the pitching that has hurt AVC. In the Marauders' four losses this season, they have given up an average of nearly 11 runs per game.
Jennifer Littlejohn had three RBI and Whelchel and Destinee Medrano each had two RBI for the Marauders.
After the Wolverines scored two runs in the top of the first inning, the Marauders responded and exploded for nine runs in the bottom half of the inning. SBVC scored two more in each of the next two innings, but AVC scored a run in the bottom of the second and six more in the third to take a commanding 16-6 lead.
Serfoss stole three more bases on Thursday and she now has eight on the season, ranked No. 10 in the state in that category.
