LANCASTER - Offensively it matches up with any team in the state.
It showed that against Tuesday against Santa Monica College. It was a hit parade and everybody was invited, except maybe the Corsairs.
A combined 29 runs and 29 hits for the Marauder softball team as it cruised to an easy double-header victory, 17-1, and 12-4, both in five innings, over Santa Monica, Tuesday afternoon at Antelope Valley College.
Toni Hutnick returned to the lineup from a concussion and all she did was blast four home runs in two games helping lead AVC's offensive juggernaut.
"My team did amazing today. I thought everything was on. The pitching was great, the defense was great and out hitting was outstanding," said Hutnick. "It felt really good coming off the concussion and doing so well. Being out for a week made me realize how bad I wanted to be back out on the field with my team."
Maria Acosta hit a home run in each game for the Marauders. Acosta has left the yard in six of her past seven games. Over its past eight games AVC has a combined 20 home runs. The Marauders lead the state with 28 home runs this season, four ahead of Sierra College and in three less games.
AVC's pitching allowed the Corsairs only one hit in the first game.
