BEAVERS DROP SERIES TO SIERRA BUT WIN GAME THREE, 9-7

American River College dropped game two of their three game series to Sierra College on Thursday to give the Wolverines the series, but the Beavers came right back on Friday at Sierra College and won game three 9-7.  Sophomore RHP Joey Guarienti (Vista del Lago) got the start for ARC and kept the Beavers in the lead for the first five innings.  Freshman RHP Kaden Clive (Delta) threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and was one out away from earning his first save of the season but Freshman Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge) came in from center field with two outs in the 9th inning to get the last out with the bases loaded.

The Beavers got on the board in the 2nd inning when freshman DH Cameron Johnson (Yuba City) launched his first collegiate home run far over the left field fence for a solo shot to put the Beavers up 1-0.  The Beavers added 4 runs in the 3rd inning with a two run triple from Westbrook being the big blow.  ARC added two more runs in the 5th inning when RF Jonas Dyas (Folsom) hit a ground ball to short with runners at 2nd and 3rd with two outs that got thrown away to allow both runs to score.  ARC got another run in the 6th on a double from freshman 3B Bryce Sabatke (River City) and one in the 9th on a single from Westbrook to score Jayden Reynolds (Bella Vista) who had doubled to lead off the inning.

The Beavers are now on their bye week in BIG 8 Conference play, but they have a non-conference game against Butte College at Beaver Field on Monday that is a make-up game from February 14th that got rained out.  The Beavers will then travel to Lassen College in Susanville on Tuesday before taking the rest of the week off.
