CYPRESS - Only a day after setting the school record for career wins, Cindy Vargas and her team had a difficult time with the third ranked team in the state losing to Cypress College, 13-3, Saturday afternoon at Cypress College.
The Marauders played their second ranked opponent in three games as they played No. 7 ranked Mt. SAC on Tuesday in an 8-7 loss and had trouble with the hot bats of the Chargers (2-0) giving up 13 hits.
Things looked good for AVC in the first inning by scoring all of its three runs in the top of the inning including an RBI each from Sara Weiser, Sally Miramontes and Samantha Arriola.
That momentum would be short lived as Cypress scored 13 unanswered runs, including three in the bottom of the first to tie the score, four more in the second and six in third. The Chargers had four players with at least two RBI.
